Kintsukuroi or Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery using resin mixed with precious metals like gold, creating a result that is often more beautiful for having been broken.
I mended this plate not long before I started this blog and thought you might like to see. I used Sugru (sugru.com) which is pretty much magic. It comes in little sealed packets and when opened it is like a sticky plasticine that you can mold and shape before it hardens into sturdy rubber. It is food safe, waterproof, heat proof and good for just about anything once you get the hang of it. I found it quite tricky to work with on this project but I am quite pleased with the finished result.
